Camera Algorithms Prototyping Engineer

Apple’s Camera algorithm team is seeking an exceptional algorithm prototyping engineer to work on the development of image capture and processing/rendering algorithms for all Apple product cameras. As part of this team, you’ll work on camera/ISP/ML technologies based on Apple’s image signal processing pipeline and hardware components, including the Apple Neural Engine. This role allows you to shape the way Apple cameras capture, process, and render exceptional still image and video quality.

Our close-knit team fosters an environment of algorithms innovation, rapid prototyping, and collaboration at both team and multi‑functional levels. We work closely with various teams, including Silicon Design, camera hardware, camera software, and QA. Our team environment is diverse, fast‑paced, and demands a self‑starter attitude.

As a Camera Algorithm Prototyping Engineer, you will architect and design innovative infrastructure to enable efficient algorithm prototyping workflows across Apple’s camera technology stack. Working closely with algorithm teams, you will design system frameworks and develop strategic approaches that transform proof‑of‑concepts into scalable product features. You will collaborate with multi‑functional camera technology teams to architect algorithm integration pipelines and design deployment strategies across Apple’s product ecosystem.

Additionally, you will develop applications, frameworks, and firmware to analyze and demonstrate algorithms that deliver exceptional user experiences across diverse use cases on Apple devices. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, an excellent problem solver, and a fast learner. You are comfortable working in a dynamic, multi‑functional environment, quick to establish relationships, and comfortable with changes and ambiguities. You will bring camera system expertise to a highly interdisciplinary team and work with many dedicated engineers to build high‑quality features in Apple products.

• MS/PhD in imaging fields or CS/EE, with 10 or more years of proven experience.
• Strong experience in camera system and camera algorithm architecture design.
• Experience in image/video algorithm development using high‑level programming languages such as MATLAB and Python.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical architecture concepts clearly to multi‑functional teams, partners, and leadership in various meeting settings.
• Self‑driven and passionate about both camera technologies and their prototyping and productization.
• The ability to quickly learn and become familiar with multiple technology areas.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
