Software Development Engineer, AWS Hardware Engineering

Job :  |  Services LLC

Do you enjoy solving complex problems and driving influential changes? Are you curious about the systems used to run the largest cloud computing infrastructures in the world? Do you thrive in a fast paced and ever-changing environment? If you answered YES to these questions, then our team is looking for you! The AWS Hardware Engineering team drives system innovation in the servers used by all of Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3, EBS and Cloud Front.

Our engineers solve the hardest problems that fuse software, hardware, and the cloud. We take big bets on new concepts, enabling AWS services to continue to revolutionize the industry. Optimizing quality, performance, reliability and cost is a massive challenge, and we love it!

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

What you will do:

As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the AWS Hardware Engineering team, you will architect and scale an AI-powered design validation platform that automates schematic review, PCB layout analysis, and system-level design verification for next-generation AWS server hardware.

You will own the design intelligence pipeline combining deterministic rule engines with multi-agent generative AI to validate board schematics and layouts - motherboards, PCIe boards, power boards, and system boards, against operational readiness standards and historical failure data, reducing design review cycles from two weeks to two days. Specialized AI agents validate AC-coupling, reset timing, power sequencing, signal integrity, and cross-board I2C conflicts before tape-out.

You will extend the platform to ingest complete design packages (schematics, block diagrams, BOMs, cable drawings) and derive test plans, coverage gaps, and risk flags that feed directly into manufacturing quality gates. You will architect the component knowledge base for AI cross-referencing against vendor datasheets, build engineering workflow integrations, and drive adoption across all hardware programs, eliminating design escapes, reducing board respins, and accelerating time-to-production for AWS custom silicon platforms.

Why you will love it:
You will build next-generation software and hardware that powers the cloud. You will deliver improvements for our customers and have a direct impact on our bottom line. You will be part of a growing, fast paced, and fun team. You will have ownership for the implementation of your work.

About the team Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. We pioneered cloud computing and never stopped innovating — that’s why customers from the most successful startups to Global 500 companies trust our robust suite of products and services to power their businesses.
