Keyjob responsibilities
- Lead a group of firmware engineers, fostering professional growth and cultivating a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Define and present the annual roadmap for delivering high‑quality firmware solutions to leadership, ensuring alignment with AWS strategic goals.
- Collaborate closely with AWS hardware and software teams to integrate firmware into the broader AWS Data Center ecosystem.
- Support deployment and operation of developed software in data centers, ensuring smooth implementation and optimal performance.
The AWS Hardware Engineering team creates server designs for Amazon’s innovative web services. Our designs are industry‑leading in frugality and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of the AWS business and millions of customers who use AWS today. Our engineers solve challenging technology problems and build architecturally sound, high‑quality components to enable AWS to realize critical business strategies.
Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience delivering products against plan in a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplined, distributed‑responsibility and often ambiguous environment
- Experience with the scrum methodology
- Experience with Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)
- Experience with server hardware system and Systems Management software/firmware

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
