Experienced Teaching Assistant - Foundation Phase - NP19 area
We’re working closely with a large and well-established primary school in the NP19 area of Newport who are looking to appoint an experienced Foundation Phase Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school has a strong reputation locally and prides itself on creating a supportive, nurturing environment where pupils and staff can thrive.
They are specifically looking for someone with solid classroom experience within the Foundation Phase who can confidently support teaching and learning while maintaining strong behaviour management. The ideal candidate will be calm, proactive, and able to build positive relationships with young learners, helping to create a structured and engaging classroom environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming and well-supported school that values teamwork and consistency. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the class teacher and helping pupils develop both academically and socially during these crucial early years.
The role will involve:
• Supporting pupils within the Foundation Phase classroom environment
• Working with small groups to reinforce learning and support progress
• Providing 1:1 support where required
• Supporting the teacher with classroom organisation and activities
• Promoting positive behaviour and helping maintain a structured learning environment
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school
• Is confident supporting within the Foundation Phase
• Has strong classroom presence and behaviour management skills
• Is reliable, proactive, and works well as part of a team
• Is passionate about supporting young learners in their early development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
