In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

In this role you will develop, implement and maintain Materials and Processes within Engineering department including, but not limited to, the associated management of Material and Process specifications. The role is across the Design and Manufacturing teams with an aim to support design for manufacture and design for cost for Seats products.

You will be responsible for timely release of Engineering data applicable to products, processes and equipment related to Safran Seats GB and other Seats BU as applicable.

Provide the necessary expertise and support to the Design office and wider Engineering team for new product development and existing projects.

Support the qualification, equivalency and audits of special processes.

• Support towards Design, Develop and Industrialisation activities.
• Governance and management of process qualification and process control.
• Develop and implement new Materials and Processes across Safran Seats GB products.
• Management of chemical substances relating to materials and parts used in Safran Seats GB.
• Governance and management of tests and associated database prioritising internal capability.
• Provide timely support to the supply chain and audit processes relating to materials and processes.
• Support Problem Solving activities within the engineering department and provide guidance as required, towards problem resolution.
• Generate and track KPI's.
• Provide expertise and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

• HND / 2:1 Bachelors (Honours) degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience of working with light alloys and steel grades used in aerospace.
• Experience with developing, executing, and evaluation of metallic qualification programs for detail parts, assemblies, manufacturing facilities, and design allowable.
• Experience with specifying and monitoring metal finishing processes, including surface treatments, coatings, and associated pre-treatments for metals, particularly aluminium alloys.

• Experience working in an Aerospace or Automotive industry.
• Knowledge of raw material processing, including ingot and intermediate form processes, as well as rolling, forging, casting, extrusion, forming, heat treatment, and other methods.
