Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated individual to join Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's Central Management Accounting team. Central Management Accounts is a small but strong team that delivers effective monthly management accounting information to the Health Board. This role is ideal for someone with experience in an accounts department and an AAT qualification, looking for variety and development opportunities.

You will join a friendly finance team committed to talent growth and proactive professional development.

Responsibilities

The team is based in Cwmbran and provides high‑quality financial information to Business Partner Accountants and budget holders in line with the monthly reporting timetable. You should be able to work to tight deadlines, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate drive and commitment to consistently achieving high standards in this customer‑focused role. The team values continuous improvement; you should think innovatively to improve processes.

Fluency in Welsh is desirable but not required;
Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Accounting Technician (AAT) Technician Level 3, ACCA Foundations in Accountancy Level 3, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience including posting transactions into a financial ledger system.
  • Standard level of Microsoft 365 knowledge, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and processes.
  • Educated to A‑level standard with GCSE qualifications in Maths & English at grades A‑C.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the NHS environment and funding sources.
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in a Finance department, or similar corporate department.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of using Oracle Financials, or a similar financial ledger.
  • Experience of working in a customer‑focused manner.
Skills & Attributes

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to achieving high standards.
  • Able to plan & prioritise own work.
  • Well‑developed communication and inter‑personal skills.
