We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our friendly GP practice team in Pontnewydd, Cwmbran.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care within a busy primary care environment.
This is a part-time position working 12.5 hours per week across two days. Wednesday 8am to 3pm & Thursday 8am to 1:30pm.
Main duties of the jobPerform venepuncture safely and competently for patients as required
Ensure accurate labelling, handling and storage of specimens
Use clinical IT systems to record activity and process requests
Maintain clinical equipment and stock levels
Adhere to infection prevention and control policies
Follow practice protocols, policies and health & safety guidance
Provide a professional, caring and reassuring service to patients
Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team
About usClark Avenue Surgery has a 11,500+ patient list size and is situated in Pontnewydd to the North of Cwmbran. Clinically, the surgery benefits from four GP Partners, six salaried GP's, Practice Pharmacist, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and experienced nurse team. Administratively, the surgery benefits from an experienced team including Practice Manager, Medical Secretaries, Prescribing Clerks and Receptionists. We are a training practice, so have regular GP Registrars, Academy Nurses and Medical Students joining us on placements.

Person Specification Experience- Experience in phlebotomy
- Competence in venepuncture
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Previous experience in a GP practice or primary care setting
- Recognised phlebotomy qualification
- Experience using clinical IT systems
