The key role for the post holder will be to manage Out of Area referrals against the ABUHB Out of Area Referrals Policy. This will involve working with GP practices, senior clinicians and NHS provider organisations to ensure that referrals are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. In some instances the role will necessitate contact with patients, through correspondence and/or over the phone.
On occasion referrals may escape to the Review process under the policy at which point the role will have responsibility for coordinating a review panel, to include Independent Board member representation, and the associated paperwork to inform a Review. Alongside this function, the post holder will support the external commissioning agenda. Reviewing patient activity to validate associated charges. Also supporting the delivery and development of improved performance reporting across the externally commissioned contracts which Aneurin Bevan Health Board hold within England and Wales.
The post holder will be responsible for liaising with and challenging providers in managing referrals and reaching agreement on reported activity and any disputes. You will be able to find a full Job description and Person Specification attached within the supporting documents.
