Contract type:Fixed Term – 12 months, subject to extension dependent on organisational need
Hours:Full-time 37 hours per week
Salary range:£38,293 – £44,336 per annum depending on experience

We collaborate closely with developers, landowners, and communities to ensure compliance with regulations, while safeguarding and documenting Wales’ rich historic environment.
To manage and coordinate the delivery of archaeological projects across Heneb’s Field Services, ensuring that work is delivered efficiently, safely, on budget, and to nationally recognised professional standards.
The postholder will work with the wider project management team and will be accountable to the Deputy Heads of Archaeology for north and south Wales. They will oversee multiple project teams, coordinate staff and resources, maintain positive client and stakeholder relationships, and support the continued growth of Heneb’s developer led services across Wales.
Heneb Field Services is experiencing increased project management demand as its developer led workload grows across Wales. This interim role provides additional management capacity for a 12-month period, with the possibility of extension if there is a continuing organisational need.
The post provides an opportunity for an experienced archaeological professional with strong organisational, commercial, and leadership skills to contribute directly to the effective delivery of Heneb’s growing portfolio of archaeological work
Key Responsibilities Project delivery and coordination- Manage the day-to-day delivery of archaeological projects from inception through to completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered to agreed timescales, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Allocate workloads, monitor progress, and ensure the efficient use of staff, resources, and project capacity.
- Prepare and contribute to tenders, fee proposals, written schemes of investigation, project designs, and programme information.
- Oversee project budgets, track expenditure, and support sound financial performance across the project portfolio.
- Maintain effective project records and ensure work is managed in accordance with Heneb systems and procedures.
- Line manage Project Officers and Archaeologists, supporting career development, training, and performance management.
- Provide day to day leadership, guidance, and support to project teams.
- Support effective workforce planning, workload prioritisation, and deployment of staff across projects.
- Promote collaborative working across Heneb to ensure project delivery is well integrated with the wider archaeology service.
- Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with Heneb’s health and safety policy, relevant legislation, and professional standards.
- Maintain high standards of reporting, including reviewing, editing, and contributing to archaeological reports and fieldwork summaries.
- Ensure outputs are technically robust, well presented, and appropriate to client, planning, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in project delivery, quality systems, and working practices.
- Provide professional advice to clients, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders regarding project requirements, methodologies, and outcomes.
