Candour Talent is recruiting a Machine Operator (SMT) to join their client's team in Cwmbran.
Employment type:
Full Time/Permanent.
Working hours:
Mon‑Fri (potentially moving to Days/Afternoons). Salary:
Basic Pay negotiable up to circa £32k. Holidays: 25+8 with the option to purchase additional days.
Our client is looking for an experienced Machine Operator (SMT) to join their high‑performance production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating SMT machinery to produce goods according to specifications and monitoring equipment for proper functioning and quality output.

The Role- Operate and control manufacturing machines to produce products efficiently.
- Handle the established process and process parameters carefully and diligently.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain product quality.
- Perform visual product control and use measuring tools.
- Carry out routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Load raw materials into machines and ensure continuous production flow.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Record production data and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support production during pilot runs and startup of new equipment.
- Coach and mentor less experienced workers to help them use production equipment or resolve problems.
- Set and operate a machine for the purpose of assembling and processing individual products, converting raw material into semi or finished products.
- Previous SMT manufacturing experience in a similar role.
- Relevant qualification, training, or experience to understand machine operations and technical drawings.
- Minimum of 2 years hands‑on experience operating and setting up manufacturing machines, performing basic maintenance, and adhering to production processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Certification, training, or experience in machine operation safety and basic maintenance.
- Valid forklift operator license (desirable).
