Steel Fabricator

Location: Cwmbran

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Temp to Perm opportunities available)

Pay: From £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00am to 5:00pm

Experienced Steel Fabricator Required

Our client is a growing and well-established structural steel fabrication company delivering high-quality steelwork across a variety of sectors. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Steel Fabricator to join their busy production team in Cwmbran.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled fabricator seeking long-term employment with opportunities for overtime, development, and progression.

The Role

As a Steel Fabricator, you will be responsible for manufacturing structural steel components from detailed engineering drawings. The role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricating structural steelwork to specification
  • Reading and interpreting fabrication and engineering drawings
  • Measuring, marking out, cutting, drilling, and assembling steel sections
  • Preparing and fitting components for welding
  • Operating workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality
  • Working closely with welders and production staff
  • Ensuring a safe, clean, and organised working environment
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience in structural steel fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience using fabrication tools, machinery, and workshop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Reliable and positive approach to work
Desirable Skills
  • Basic MIG/MAG or FCAW welding experience
  • Overhead crane licence
  • Forklift experience
  • Previous experience within a heavy engineering or structural steel environment
