Position: Contract Product Architect

Redline Group are supporting a global engineering organisation that develops safety-critical electronic products used by customers worldwide. The business is looking for an experienced Contract Product Architect based in Cwmbran, Wales to take ownership of end-to-end technical solutions and help protect the delivery of its next generation of products.

This is a senior, hands-on contract role offering the opportunity to shape several product solutions, challenge technical decisions and work with a multidisciplinary, international R&D organisation.

You will be expected to:
  • Own the end-to-end technical solution across embedded electronic products.
  • Translate product requirements and feature requests into clear engineering and system requirements.
  • Create system architecture maps and provide technical direction to electronics, firmware and software engineers.
  • Review and challenge designs throughout development and delivery.
  • Make informed technology and component trade-offs, including display and microprocessor selection.
  • Assess whether existing platforms can be extended or whether new platforms are required.
  • Lead practical technical problem-solving across development, testing and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Programme Management, Quality, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Certification and Technical Support.
Key skills required for the Contract Product Architect based in Cwmbran, Wales:
  • Strong embedded firmware development and architecture experience, including microcontrollers, RTOS and C/C++.
  • Proven system-level architecture capability, with experience translating specifications into system requirements, architecture maps and design direction.
  • Deep, hands-on technical problem-solving skills and the credibility to review, challenge and guide engineers across electronics, firmware and software.
  • Substantial experience delivering embedded electronic products in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • A practical, delivery-focused approach; this role suits a technically strong architect rather than a generalist manager or purely conceptual strategist.
