Position Title
SENIOR NETWORKING ENGINEER
Location: Houston, TX
FLSA Class: Exempt
Reports To: Sr Manager-Network and Communication
Position SummaryThe Senior Networking Engineer designs, maintains, secures, and evaluates network systems and communications. They will troubleshoot complex network issues involving various factors, conduct network architecture design, and feasibility. Must have deep knowledge of networking, computer science, routers, switches, firewalls, low voltage electrical etc. This typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
What You’ll Do- Design and evaluate network systems and communications on mobile power generation equipment, gas processing equipment, and office space in remote locations.
- SAT/LTE – Work with systems engineers to set up and troubleshoot satellite and LTE issues; work with system administrators to set up and troubleshoot support tickets.
- Identify, troubleshoot, mitigate, and resolve hardware, software, and configuration problems on networking devices.
- Collect information from customers and engineering groups related to network issues for the purpose of designing network solutions.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment, satellite, and LTE communications systems.
- Experience with distributed systems, networking, cluster servers, and edge computing.
- Network device installation and port connection checkout; read and interpret network drawings, including switch topology and one-line diagrams; perform network cabling (copper/fiber) installation, builds, and repairs.
- Electrical: circuit troubleshooting, installation, and repair (120–480 VAC, 24–125 VDC).
- Nice to have: knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and electrical drawings (P&).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+) strongly preferred or relevant industry experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the networking field.
- Hands‑on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Fortinet firewalls.
- Experience with Cisco CLI, Meraki, and Fortinet.
- Demonstrated experience in network engineering, planning, cyber security, designing, provisioning, installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Ability to support on‑call emergency network outages on evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work with a team, take general directions from several sources, focus on details, and complete projects.
- Ability to organize, schedule, and prioritize departmental and individual work to meet various schedules and objectives.
- Analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve sophisticated issues/problems.
