Avant First Assistants is seeking an experienced and dependable PRNLicensed
Surgical First Assistant to join our surgical team in Cypress, TX.We are dedicated to delivering exceptional surgical support and consistently uphold the highest standards in patient safety, professionalism, and care.
In this role, you’ll be a vital part of the surgical team, providing direct intraoperative support to surgeons and contributing to excellent patient outcomes. If you’re a skilled Surgical First Assistant looking for a flexible, high-impact opportunity, this position is for you

- Meet with patients to verify consents and documentation
- Assist with positioning, prepping, and draping patients
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are ready
- Participate in pre-op briefings with the surgical team
- Assist surgeons with retraction, hemostasis, suturing, and tissue handling
- Utilize advanced techniques and instrumentation as needed
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and support a sterile field
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to support case flow
- Assist with patient transfer to recovery
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation
- Join team debriefings to discuss outcomes and improvements
- Active Surgical Assistant License (Texas Medical Board)
- Certification from ABSA or NSAA (required)
- Current BLS or ACLS certification (AHA or equivalent)
- 2+ years of experience in a hospital or outpatient surgical setting
- Proficiency in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., cardiovascular, neuro, ortho, general, MIS)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm and precise in high-pressure situations
