Overview

The Part-Time Sales Teammate role at The Buckle, Inc. focuses on creating the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for guests. Sales Teammates perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by Store Management, such as cashiering, merchandise display, register procedures, and routine cleaning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires.
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience.
  • Demonstrate products using product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing that knowledge with Team.
  • Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
  • Maintain personal sales targets and look for opportunities to impact Teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service throughout the store in the Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
  • Help Guests try on or fit merchandise.
  • Check out and bag purchases.
  • Prepare merchandise for alterations.
  • Know all exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities.
  • Fill out and effectively use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to accomplish goals.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty (fit appointments, Buckle credit card and guest connect).
  • Place special orders or contact other stores to find desired merchandise.
  • Maintain good Guest relationships and develop a client‑based business.
  • Maintain knowledge of Buckle’s customer service expectations to meet every Guest’s needs.
  • Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards even if the Manager is not present.
Recruiting, Training and Development
  • Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and Teammate Recommend.
  • Build relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude to create positive floor culture.
Visual Merchandise Management
  • Present merchandise to maximize sales and achieve optimum merchandise turnover.
  • Stay current on product range.
  • Collaborate with Teammates and Guests to identify product improvements and new product ideas.
  • Ensure the sales floor is consistently sized and new freight displayed appropriately.
Operations
  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and days around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Open and close cash registers, use magnetic card readers, count money, separate charge slips, coupons, vouchers, balance cash drawers, and make deposits.
  • Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and handle them according to protocol.
  • Follow all Loss Prevention guidelines, including daily bag and purse checks.
  • Develop knowledge of POS procedures.
  • Execute payment, exchange, and Loss Prevention policies.
  • Perform merchandising tasks such as handling freight, re‑merchandising, preparing displays, completing price markdowns, and transfers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store.
  • Provide feedback to Store Manager and Leadership Team regarding merchandise handling concerns.
  • Communicate policy violations and concerns to Store Manager, District Manager, and/or Human Resources confidentially and promptly.
  • Adhere to Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all policies, procedures, and handbooks.
  • Contribute to a positive team spirit and uphold the mission statement.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
