Sports Coach

Christ the Redeemer Catholic School is currently seeking coaches for the following teams this school year. All coaches must fill out an Applitrack form on the Galveston-Houston Arch-Diocese website, complete the online Safe Environment Training, and complete a series of required School Annual Trainings online – Bloodline Pathogens, First Aid & Sudden Illness, AED & CPR, Anaphylaxis & Epinephrine and Child Abuse & Neglect.

This is a stipend-only position. When games begin in late August, the teams will normally practice twice and play twice a week. We are part of the Greater Houston Catholic Athletic Association, divided into a North and South division. We normally play away and home games against each of the schools in our division. Travel is involved. Player transportation to games is the responsibility of the players  parents.

There is a wide range of skill among our student athletes; some have experience, some do not. We do not cut student athletes, so every student athlete who wants to play can make the team. The JV team is developmental and our Varsity is the competitive team. It is important that the candidate has coaching/playing experience, is knowledgeable about the game, has excellent communication skills, a good rapport with players and parents, and is a good Christian example for our student athletes.

Coaching duties include developing players, planning practices, and supporting the JV and Varsity programs. Ensure compliance with archdiocesan requirements, coordinate with parents and schools, and model professional and Christian behavior. Travel to games as part of the league schedule; assist with transportation arrangements as needed by families.

Coaching or playing experience; knowledge of the game; excellent communication skills; ability to build rapport with players and parents; strong Christian example for student athletes.
