Systems Engineer, Senior

Bowhead seeks a Senior Systems Engineer as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the development of technology solutions from project inception to demonstration and test for enhanced expeditionary engagement capabilities. The successful candidate will have experience with integrated systems, guidance, navigation, and sensors to improve accuracy and effectively engage moving targets with indirect fires.

This position is Part‐Time (20 hours a week) / On‑Site at the Dahlgren Bowhead office.

• Analyzes actual and predictable operational activities to develop a quantitative, rational basis for technology investigation, decision making or resource allocation.
• Utilizes modeling and measuring techniques, mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, and other necessary techniques.
• Provides integral support in the requirements determination, conceptualization, design, development, testing, verification, and documentation of modeling and simulation based decision support system applications.
• While not a supervisory position, may provide work leadership for team members.

• Requires Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
• Twelve (12) years professional technical experience including at least six (6) years specialized experience in the areas of Model Based Systems Engineering, Weapons and/or Weapon Systems programs concept definition, design, integration, testing, and engineering.
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
