Junior Combat Systems EngineerWe are seeking a Junior Combat Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Navy at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), part of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). NSWCDD serves as the Navy’s leading architect for complex naval warfare systems, delivering advanced weapon systems through research, development, testing, systems engineering, and integration in support of the Navy, Joint Forces, and the Nation.
The organization emphasizes innovation in areas such as directed energy, digital engineering, and advanced combat systems to deliver effective and affordable solutions for the future fleet.
This position supports a Combat Systems Engineering–focused contract and is part of a seven-person Systems Engineering team within a larger group of approximately 100 contractors.
Work Location and TeleworkThe primary work location is Dahlgren, Virginia. Candidates may be required to work on site or near the base up to five (5) days per week, based on customer requirements. Limited telework or work from a contractor location may be available with government approval.
Responsibilities and DutiesThe Junior Combat Systems Engineer will support Combat Systems Engineering activities in accordance with the Defense Acquisition Guide, providing systems engineering support across the full lifecycle of naval warfare systems. Responsibilities include supporting the NSWCDD V Department with advanced ship and combat system integration engineering across a wide range of platforms and programs, including:
- AEGIS modernization and in-service combat systems engineering
- Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV), and Frigate combat systems
- Operations and force analysis
- AEGIS Combat Direction System support
- AEGIS Ballistic Missile Defense systems engineering
- LBTTS planning and activation
- System analysis and enterprise systems engineering support
- Modeling and simulation
- Combat system virtualization for the United States Marine Corps
- Foreign Military Sales (FMS)
- Future surface Navy combat systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or a technical discipline, or four (4) years of equivalent demonstrated technical experience
- Four (4) years of experience conducting detailed and complex engineering activities related to systems, capabilities, and mission-level engineering
- Demonstrated experience with functional and system-level requirements analysis, requirements development, and technical reviews
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering design, performance analysis, and operational support for military systems
- Demonstrated experience in system definition, functional allocation, design development, testing, integration, and operational performance
- Demonstrated experience developing total system solutions while balancing technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Prior experience supporting NSWC Dahlgren or NSWC Crane
