The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Student Disability Services Note Taker on the Dahlonega Campus. SDS Note Taking Service helps qualified students with disabilities locate note takers. Note takers are assigned on a first come, first serve basis and at the discretion of the SDS Note Taker Coordinator. Information about disability, accommodations, and who is registered with SDS is confidential.
Note takers are expected to not disclose the identity of the student for whom they take notes, and must sign a confidentiality agreement. Note takers must be enrolled in the class for which they are taking notes, take clear legible notes, and upload those notes to notetaker.ung.edu within 24 hours after each class, in order to provide a qualified student access to class notes.
Applicants must also register for the position on notetaker.ung.edu to be considered.
- Take clear, concise and legible notes of each class, or post comments in cases where class was canceled or no notes were taken.
- Arrive at class on time and attend all classes, except in cases of illness or emergency.
- Pre-arrange for a substitute note taker for days when you will be absent.
- Post notes or comments to: notetaker.ung.edu in a timely manner [within 24 hours of class].
- Check UNG email account daily, and respond to any communication from SDS regarding notes.
- Communicate effectively with Student Disability Services if a problem arises.
- Give SDS 2 weeks' notice if you cannot continue in the note taking position for any reason.
- Skilled note taker - Organized, reliable, and responsible
- Able to keep information confidential.
- Excellent communication skills and responsive to emails.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Internet browsers, Word, scanning documents).
- Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
- Satisfactory Academic Progress indicated by a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Student must be in a course that received the email announcement from Student Accessibility Services that a note taker is needed to be eligible for the position.
- All requirements must be completed in order to receive priority registration and payment:
- Must sign a Student Disability Services confidentiality agreement.
- Must successfully complete the online training and quiz.
