Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Spanish Language Research Assistant
- Institutional Student Worker. The individual who fills this position will be a student research assistant for a faculty-led project in the Department of Modern Languages. The objective of the project is to integrate Spanish language education with popular baccalaureate majors at UNG through the creation of three new lower-level courses-Introduction to Spanish for Healthcare Professions, Introduction to Spanish for Legal/Criminal Justice Professions, and Introduction to Spanish for Business Professions.

Responsibilities
  • The student research assistant will be responsible for working alongside the lead investigator in coordinating and conducting interviews with UNG faculty and local leaders in the business, criminal justice, and health care professions, transcribing these interviews, developing and distributing questionnaires, analyzing questionnaire results, and developing researched-based open-access curricula materials.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • The student must also possess strong social skills and a willingness to learn about research methods for the humanities.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • The student research assistant must be currently enrolled or have already taken an intermediate-level Spanish course (SPAN
    2001 or SPAN
    2002). Alternatively, the student may be a native speaker of Spanish.
  • The student must also be a major or minor of criminal justice studies (e.g., cybersecurity, criminal justice) healthcare-related studies (e.g., nursing, biology, healthcare administration, etc.), or business related-studies (e.g., Management, Finance, Marketing, Information Systems, etc.).
