Job SummaryUniversity of North Georgia is seeking Peer Math/Science Tutors at the Oconee campus. Tutors will provide support to undergraduate students in university‑level math and science courses and assist students, faculty, and staff with the services offered by UNG tutoring centers.
Responsibilities- Provide tutoring to students in math and science courses.
- Integrate study and learning strategies to promote independent learning.
- Complete 10‑hour tutor training and achieve at least 25 hours of tutoring time to meet CRLA certification requirements.
- Complete required documentation, including client report forms as instructed by your supervisor.
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources and inform the supervisor of such referrals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Tutoring Services Director, Assistant Directors, or Coordinator.
- Establish rapport and communicate effectively with students.
- Demonstrate competency in subject matter and explain concepts clearly.
- Be friendly, personable and empathetic toward fellow students.
- Present information effectively and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Enrolled at UNG with a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
- Provide a recommendation from a professor of a course taken at UNG (email will suffice).
- Maintain an A or B grade in the courses you wish to tutor.
- Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Experience with online or hybrid courses.
