Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work­study student in the Communications-Media Studies-Journalism department on the Gainesville campus. Hands‑on training with all relevant Film & Digital Media, Audio, Journalism & Communication equipment and facilities (in addition to in‑class instruction). Peer leadership experience: FDMJ&C work‑study students can provide guidance and instruction to peers on proper handling, storage and assembly of equipment as well as advise on and participate in supplemental curriculum‑based workshops.

Media and content creation: FDMJ&C work‑study students can participate directly with incepting and manifesting relevant equipment video, document and online initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and restock equipment for daily/weekly class needs as well as equipment maintenance, update and repair (cleaning, reorganizing, recharging, troubleshooting, etc.).
  • Interact with and update necessary pre‑production software.
  • Classroom and equipment troubleshooting: address malfunctioning equipment, computers, projectors, etc. before engaging IT Helpdesk; ensuring the FDM Equipment Room, Audio Suite, Nesbitt Broadcast Studio, and Nighthawk Radio/Podcast suite are operational, organized, and presentable for UNG faculty, students and visitors.
  • Generate, update, and replace promotional, tutorial and informational material such as “what’s inside” cards for equipment organization, UNG‑developed manuals (Audio Suite, Broadcast studio, Nighthawk Radio/Podcast suite, Journalism equipment packages), and research/find videos for D2L Production Hub.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency with productivity apps (Microsoft Suite), Adobe Cloud (Premiere, Photoshop, Audition), familiarity with both PC and Mac UI, self‑motivated and self‑directed research.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
