Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Graduate Research Assistant. We are seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to conduct research on the USDOT‑FHWA funded project, Developing an Automated Geospatial Model‑based Decision Support Tool for Assessing Road Culvert Vulnerability on US Forest Service Experimental Forests, using Geospatial Engineering & Technology skills and experience including GeoAI, WebGIS Dynamic Systems Design, Geospatial Model Building, Remote Sensing Data Analyses, Advanced Image Processing, Data and Image Mining along with a strong work ethics.

Advanced Computing/Programming skills are essential to complete this project through geospatial modeling automation, image fusion algorithm development with advanced STARFM process, quality peer‑reviewed publications, etc. The applicant must have experience in Dynamic WebGIS site development.

Responsibilities
  • Geospatial (remote sensing, GIS, & GPS) data acquisition and processing through advanced Data/Image Mining
  • Data Fusion Approach development to create Temporal and Spatial rescaling of satellite remote sensing data
  • Geospatial Model automation with GeoAI with python script‑based independent tools development to use in models for Culvert Vulnerability Analyses in pre‑and post‑wildfire watershed conditions
  • Develop Dynamic WebGIS Tool to determine culvert failure probability condition in real‑time
  • Develop research report, conference presentations (if feasible), peer‑reviewed manuscripts (if feasible), and other scholastic materials
  • Develop step‑by‑step working process of all models or analysis so that can be followed by others easily

  • BS degree in Engineering/Geospatial Science/Civil Engineering/Water Resources Engineering and related field
  • Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours as a Graduate Assistant
