Summary
Develops and maintains needed systems to drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality, safety, lead time, and use of working capital.
Key Duties And Responsibilities- Evaluate tools and equipment options to reduce operational costs and improve manufacturing/assembly efficiency.
- Justify and manage capital expenditures for machinery and equipment upgrades.
- Design fixturing and tooling using Solid Works.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles, including visual controls, pull inventory systems, workplace organization, 5S programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide manufacturing technical support, including tooling, fixturing, and process troubleshooting.
- Monitor and correct safety and ergonomic issues in the workplace.
- Plan and organize lean events across multiple manufacturing/assembly facilities.
- Support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) initiatives.
- Participate in verification, review, and implementation of torque specifications and high-risk part specifications.
- Assist with work cell load balancing in all manufacturing areas.
- Support the Product Development Process (PDP) by evaluating new projects for tooling and equipment needs.
- Assist with plant layouts and other process improvement projects.
- Document processes and recommend system or process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and data-tracking skills.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction at all levels, including 1:1s, meetings, and shop floor events.
- Skilled in process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and problem-solving.
- Self-directed and able to take on projects beyond primary scope of work.
- Regularly stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently use hands to handle tools and controls.
- Must be able to talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, and work at heights up to 11 feet.
- Lift and/or move up to 15 lbs frequently, 25 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Specific vision requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- May be exposed to vibration while performing duties.
