Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Groundskeeper I on the Dahlonega campus. This position is responsible for landscape work in a University environment.

Responsibilities
  • Physically demanding manual labor consisting of lawn, flower and shrub care.
  • Digging, spraying, edging and power tool operation.
  • Other duties as assigned, including building or property maintenance support as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to operate basic landscape machinery and power tools.
  • Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Must be able to understand and follow specific oral and written instruction.
  • Must have the ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, often in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 40 feet, execute work requiring bending and reaching overhead, lift up to 50 pounds, and climbing ladders of varying sizes.
  • Follow safety procedures and work in a safe manner. Able to operate small hand tools;

    Climb up and down ladder;
    Climb up onto and down from equipment. Crawling;

    Eye/hand coordination;

Required Qualifications
  • Valid state driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School graduate, GED preferred.
  • Grounds/landscaping experience preferred.
Proposed Salary

Minimum Starting Salary: $15.00 per hour
