Creativity, organisation and collaboration all come together in this varied leadership role. You'll work with performers, volunteers, sponsors and colleagues to help deliver a successful annual festival while ensuring every detail is carefully planned and managed. This is a part‑time, self‑employed fixed‑term contract running from December 2026 to May 2027.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead the planning and delivery of the Festival programme in line with the organisation's strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate the production of printed and digital Festival programmes, including proofreading and copy editing.
  • Support marketing and communications activity to ensure consistent messaging and promotion.
  • Oversee the volunteer programme, providing guidance and support throughout the Festival cycle.
  • Support sponsorship and membership initiatives while helping to develop new funding opportunities.
  • Assist with budget monitoring, financial reporting and governance activities.
  • Support the planning and delivery of Festival events, including on‑site operations and logistics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, sponsors, volunteers and key stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of the Festival.
  • Undertake additional duties to support the successful planning and delivery of the Festival.
Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in arts, publishing, events or festival management, together with strong project management and organisational skills. You'll be an excellent communicator with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate stakeholders and remain calm under pressure. Experience leading or coordinating staff or volunteers would be advantageous, along with budget management experience and a genuine passion for literature, culture and community engagement.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during busy periods is essential.
