LOCATION:

Guernsey
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 – £37,000 (depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience). Channel Island weighting £5,319 per annum if full‑time, pro‑rata for part‑time

Purpose of the Role

Want to produce bold, local journalism and present live programmes in one of the most distinctive patches in Britain? BBC Guernsey is looking for a creative producer/presenter who loves getting close to their community and shaping stories that spark conversation across the Islands. This role gives you the chance to make standout daily content and occasionally present 4‑hour live programmes across the schedule – perfect for anyone ready to stretch their on‑air skills and deepen their editorial impact.

Key Responsibilities and Impact
  • Produce high‑quality daily radio and digital content that surprises, informs, and connects.
  • Write sharp, clear scripts and create powerful audio rooted in local matters.
  • Present live 4‑hour radio programmes across the schedule.
  • Use a range of audio production techniques and editing tools.
  • Collaborate across the wider BBC Local network and build strong community contacts.
  • Bring energy, curiosity and flair to everything you create.
Skills and Experience

Essential criteria:

  • Strong experience in audio production and journalism, with sharp editorial judgement.
  • A passion for local life and an ability to spot stories from different perspectives.
  • An accomplished presentation style and experience handling live radio, breaking news or speech content.
  • Solid understanding of BBC Editorial Guidelines, impartiality, and broadcast law.
  • Excellent people skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and represent the BBC professionally.

Desirable:

  • Experience developing and supporting presenters or being part of a presenter/producer partnership.
  • A track record of creating speech‑based features for daily radio programmes.
  • Experience with, and confidence in, new tech, social platforms, and creative digital storytelling.
