Deputy Manager - Learning Disabilities Supported Living

Overview

Applications are invited from dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals or Social Workers to join the Adult Learning Disabilities Supported Living service as Band 6 Deputy Manager on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. The Supported Living Team provides independent living accommodation at two sites where resident Service Users live in rented or partial ownership flats and have a range of care and support services delivered to their door from an on-site care and support team.

Service Users have access to communal on-site facilities including hairdressers, restaurants, lounges and assisted bathing facilities.

The role supports the Band 7 Service Manager and responsibilities include assessment of service users with complex needs, guiding and directing other staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, contributing to recruitment and retention of team members, undertaking the professional development review process with identified team members, supporting staff with performance issues and developing plans to address developmental needs, acting as a professional role model for junior staff and promoting high standards of practice and professional values, and acting up as necessary in the absence of the manager.

The Guernsey Band 6 salary range is £46,152 to £62,310 plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH. (2026 salary review in process). Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.

Providing an excellent Learning Disabilities Service, supported by modern equipment and reliant on Healthcare professionals recruited to a high standard.

• Registered Nurse, AHP or Social Worker with appropriate UK statutory professional registration as applicable.
• Post-graduate Learning Disabilities experience at senior Band 5 or Band 6-equivalent level.
• Completion of a recognised Teaching and Assessing/Mentorship qualification.
• Current clean driving licence.
• Personal Qualities to include;
  Reliability, Honesty, Patience, Resilience, Motivation and Leadership skills.

• A higher-than-UK salary.
• An annual bonus of £1,605.
• Registered Nurse applicants will receive an additional £3,000 bonus on completion of two, then four years service.
