Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Salary – Competitive (plus benefits)

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, inspections and repairs on a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment. You will play a key role in maximising plant performance and availability while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

What will you be doing?

- Carrying out preventative, routine and breakdown maintenance on site mechanical equipment
- Diagnosing faults and undertaking repairs to maximise plant reliability and availability
- Working on overhead cranes, grabs, pumps, fans, valves, actuators and mechanical drive systems
- Supporting planned maintenance shutdowns and major repair activities
- Assisting with maintenance planning and scheduling activities
- Recording maintenance activities accurately within the Computerised Maintenance Management System
- Supervising contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and effectively
- Providing technical support to operational teams across the site
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant performance and reliability
- Ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with FCC Environment's health, safety, environmental and quality standards

What are we looking for?

- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience maintaining mechanical process plant equipment
- Strong preventative maintenance and fault-finding skills
- Experience working with pumps, valves, fans, mechanical drives, cranes or similar equipment
- The ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings and technical diagrams
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
- Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach and willingness to develop multi-skilled capabilities
