The Building Maintenance Technician is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school & office environment, overseen by the Director of Maintenance, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Primary Function: Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties in the maintenance of District buildings, facilities, and equipment.

- Indoor and outdoor work environment
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
- Driving a vehicle to conduct work
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Regular exposure to fumes, dust, and odors
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and to read a variety of printed and coded materials
- Seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors during all types of weather including hot, cold, rainy, humid, and dry conditions
- Lifting to 75lbs
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
Minimum of one (1) year successful maintenance experience with knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in general maintenance work
Must possess a valid driver's license, have dependable transportation, and have a good driving record
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential FunctionsPerform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties in the maintenance of District buildings, facilities, and equipment
Perform various skilled duties such as carpentry, glazing, plastering, locksmithing, painting, plumbing, welding, roofing, electrical, heating, air conditions, ventilation, and refrigeration systems
Inspect District and school buildings
Install, repair and refurbish cabinets, bookcases and a variety of other classroom furniture and equipment
Install, maintain, and repair shelving, bulletin boards and chalk/white boards as needed
Assemble, move, pick up, and deliver various furniture and equipment as directed
Install and repair floor and ceiling tiles, counter tops, windows, and latches
Patch and paint damaged walls and doors
Replace locks in doors and cabinets
Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and equipment
Communicate problems/concerns with equipment to appropriate manager/supervisor
Make recommendations which will improve job performance and/or equipment reliability as appropriate
Work without constant supervision
Complete all assigned work orders including special project work
Maintain all tools and equipment used in performance of job responsibilities
Maintain clean work site
Complete all paperwork in a timely manner, obtaining proper signatures from the issuing administrator
Estimate time, material and supply needs to complete assigned jobs
Assist in ordering materials as directed
Report immediately safety hazards which affect the welfare of students and district employees
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
