The Firefighter/Paramedic performs skilled work in firefighting, emergency medical services, fire prevention, and community risk reduction under emergency and non-emergency conditions. This dual-role position involves operating as part of a dynamic response team, engaging in fire suppression, patient care, extrication, hazard mitigation, and other all-hazards emergencies. Members will be expected to safely drive and operate emergency apparatus and equipment, perform routine maintenance, and participate in daily station operations and company-level training.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments and situations are essential. This is a full-time, union represented position.

• Assists in fire extinguishment depending on conditions and if so directed.
• Cleans fire station and grounds, cleans and services all fire equipment as assigned.
• Maintains apparatus in a constant state of readiness, makes daily inspections and performs necessary maintenance and repair. Maintains records and submits reports as may be required. Participates in fire drills and attends classes in fire and medical techniques.
• Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties at the station as assigned. Inspects hydrants, clearing weeds and brush; paints and marks hydrant locations.
• Removes people from danger, performs emergency life support functions as a qualified EMS provider.
• Assists in instruction of firefighter(s) in efficient and modern practices and principles of fire fighting and rescue work.
• Performs fire prevention inspections as assigned.
• Attends schools and classes to learn advanced principles and techniques in use and operation of fire service apparatus, fire techniques and medical emergency skills.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues that contain blood borne pathogens.

• Be 18 years or older.
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record
• Possess ability to act promptly and use good judgment in emergencies and deal tactfully with the public.
• Have ICS
  200 and ICS
  700 certification

• Possess DPSST Firefighter II certification or have the ability to obtain within six months of hire
• Possess an Apparatus Operator/Pumper certification
• Possess an Oregon Paramedic license
• Have 2 years Fire/EMS experience
• Pass an annual medical physical based on NFPA Standard 1582

• DPSST Fire Instructor I certification
• DPSST Fire Officer I certification
• Associates Degree in a related field
