We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, a solid understanding of GAAP, and experience with various accounting software. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, compliance, and analysis within a dynamic organization that values professional growth and integrity. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting audits and regulatory filings.

What

you’ll Own
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor financial health.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and other regulatory requirements such as LIHTC regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Utilize accounting software such as Quick Books, Sage, Xero, People Soft, or similar platforms for daily operations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and report writing for management review.
  • Mentor junior team members on technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial concepts.
  • Support special projects related to corporate finance, governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, or securities law as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or governmental accounting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, financial statement preparation, and financial analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, People Soft, or similar platforms; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, journal entries, and audit support efficiently.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of financial concepts like cash flow analysis and budgeting.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
