Accountant - Retail Accounting

Sunoco LP is a growth company which operates within the following three business segments:

Fuel Distribution: Largest independent fuel distributor in the U.S., distributing over 8 billion gallons of fuel a year across more than 33 states, including Hawaii. We distribute fuel to more than 7,300 retail locations and over 2,500 commercial customers

Pipelines Systems: Network of over 14,000 miles of pipelines spanning 16 states, distributing crude oil, refined products, renewable fuels, ammonia, and specialty liquids

·
Terminals: 113 fuel terminals in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Europe, and Mexico

Sunoco LP is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Retail Operational Accounting team in Dallas, TX. We perform end-to-end accounting and analysis for all service areas for gas, food and auto services along New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. • Perform daily review of store activity. Work with store managers to address inventory, credit card, fuel sales and merchandise sales issues.
• Record daily and monthly journal entries to ensure accuracy of financial information.
• Prepare account reconciliations and explain reconciling items.
• Perform trend analysis on various P&L and balance sheet accounts.
• Proactively identify improvements in areas like task completion and availability.
• Creatively use Excel techniques to develop working templates for process enhancements.

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

• Sound understanding of accounting practices and principles.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in use of Excel.

Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods.

• General Ledger experience including manual journal entries and problem solving using t-accounts.

• Experience with PDI, SAP, Power BI, Alteryx, or Robotic Process Automation tools is a plus.

• The Associate Accountant level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 0-2 years of relevant job related experience.
• The Staff Accountant level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience.
• The Senior Accountant level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience.

• Usually, normal office working conditions.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
