Flex HR is partnering with a Dallas based client to find a Staff Accountant!
Staff AccountantWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation and a desire to grow within a nonprofit environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries; maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies
- Track grant spending, ensure compliance with donor restrictions, and assist with audits and regulatory filings (e.g., 1099s)
- Monitor expenses against budget, track budget-to-actual variances, and assist with budget preparation
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including recording incoming donations
- Input payroll data and prepare related journal entries
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation as needed
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and internal accounting policies
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities as needed
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience: 1–5 years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred but not required
- Technical
Skills:- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, MIP, or other ERP systems)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge:
- Understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and 501(c)(3) regulations
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- High ethical standards and integrity
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
