Position Overview

We’re seeking a visionary, creative leader with at least six years of experience in PR, marketing, or communications agencies. The ideal candidate has a strong background working with Financial & Professional Services clients and a proven track record of pitching and onboarding new accounts in this sector. As Senior Account Manager on the Financial & Professional Services Team, you will lead 4–5 account teams, overseeing strategy, execution, and client relationships across media, influencers, and social channels.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the day‑to‑day account lead for up to 5 Financial & Professional Services clients, ensuring exceptional service and strategic counsel aligned with each client’s business objectives.
  • Direct teams of 5–10 members—interns to VPs—managing workflow, priorities, and development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with top‑tier financial, business, and industry trade press.
  • Oversee PR programs from kickoff to goal achievement, ensuring measurable impact and accurate client billing.
  • Support agency growth through new business development, organic client expansion, and the creation of case studies in the Financial & Professional Services sector.
  • Lead agency‑wide training annually and maintain a focus area such as digital strategy, social media, or sector‑specific communications initiatives.
  • Manage up to 2 direct reports, set goals, conduct quarterly check‑ins, and deliver annual reviews.
  • Mentor team members and support their alignment with agency standards and client objectives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of six years of experience in PR, marketing, or communications agencies, including at least one year as an Account Manager.
  • Prior experience managing Financial & Professional Services clients in an agency setting.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with expertise in digital and social media.
  • Established media relationships and proven experience pitching feature placements for financial and professional services clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop PR plans and campaigns that drive measurable business impact.
  • Solid understanding of staffing budgets and ability to make staffing recommendations.
  • Organized, self‑motivated, and entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on prioritizing impact and timelines.
  • Commitment to continuous self‑improvement and proactive solution‑orientation.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of inspiring teams and delivering results.
Location & Work Environment

Highwire offers both remote and hybrid work options. Candidates located within commuting distance of our New York, NY or San Francisco, CA offices follow a hybrid schedule—two in‑office days per week. Fully remote roles are available for candidates residing in the following states:
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Washington, D.C. Please note that we only consider candidates who reside in one of these locations at the time of hire.
