Full-Time Montessori Primary Care/After School Enrichment (MPC/ASE) Assistant
Come join us! Alcuin School now has an opening for a Full-time MPC/ASE Assistant for the academic year. We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria:
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARYMPC/ASE Assistants are responsible for supervising and nurturing while ensuring the safety and well-being of the children.
JOB SCOPEPrepares and maintains a safe and nurturing environment aligned with the Montessori principles. Communicates with the coordinator about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues. Assists in preparing snacks for children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Maintains an aftercare environment that is clean, sanitary, uncluttered, and aesthetically pleasing
- Monitors the children to ensure they play and interact with one another safely and appropriately
- Supervises, nurtures and cares for children indoors and outdoors
- Creates and implements weekly lesson plans with age-appropriate activities for the children in the classroom
- Implements necessary changes quickly and gracefully, especially on very busy days
- Engages in positive, empathetic, and creative interaction with children
- Monitors and reports developmental and safety concerns to the MPC Coordinator or Director of Primary Program
- Prepares appropriate snacks for the children, involving the children in preparation of snacks whenever possible
- Cleans interactive areas throughout the day
- Helps ensure all equipment is well-maintained and regularly inspected for safety hazards
- Exhibits teamwork with positive cooperation within the classroom
- Prepares attendance sheet each week for parents to sign out
- Notifies the MPC Coordinator of classroom supplies needed to be purchased
- Completes any necessary trainings: CPR, Safety, professional development (15 hours required)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Required- Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must pass Criminal Background Checks, Reference Checks and Drug Testing
- Minimum of 2 years of experience taking care of children
- CPR and first-aid training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Montessori experience
- Strong verbal and listening skills to converse with children, other staff, and faculty
- Multitask and organizational skills to handle multiple children
- Montessori training (AMI diploma course or Orientation course)
