Principal Consultant, Specialist in Mission Critical & Industrial Construction Recruitment

Role Summary

In this role, you will lead and direct project teams with a proven record of successful delivery. You will manage Ground Up
, large, complex industrial or manufacturing projects — or multiple concurrent projects including but not limited to industrial, advanced manufacturing, food & beverage processing, cold storage, mission critical, warehouse/distribution, or similar technically complex projects
, while overseeing one or more project managers and coordinating closely with field leadership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with project directors to respond to RFPs, including preparation of conceptual estimates, schedules, and proposal documents; participate in client presentations as needed.
  • Participate in design review meetings and provide constructability input, including scope and cost impacts; monitor design document progress.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, cost code input, and cost control systems.
  • Develop bid packages and manage invitation-to-bid processes; receive, analyze, and level bids; qualify subcontractors; award subcontracts and major purchase orders.
  • Collaborate with construction leadership to establish project organization, including superintendent and field staffing requirements.
  • Plan, sequence, and schedule projects with input from superintendents and subcontractors; direct schedules, conduct jobsite meetings, and issue updates.
  • Own project cost control, including labor cost reports, summary cost reports, and project status updates.
  • Direct permit, inspection, and final approval requirements with governing authorities and design partners.
  • Maintain submittal control, including scheduling, reviewing, approving, and expediting submittals to meet project milestones.
  • Manage client relations through progress meetings, correspondence, reporting, change orders, and responsive issue resolution.
  • Maximize project cash flow through accurate invoicing and collections; prepare requisitions and required billing documentation.
  • Prepare and secure owner acceptance of change orders; issue subcontract and PO modifications and update budgets accordingly.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor payments, including review of schedules of values, pay applications, invoices, and insurance compliance.
  • Address subcontractor or supplier performance issues, including documentation, default notices, and replacement when necessary.
  • Review and monitor progress, quality, and safety; partner with superintendents to correct issues and maintain compliance with policy and contract requirements.
  • Develop and mentor construction personnel through coaching, performance management, and on-the-job training.
  • Lead project closeout activities and ensure warranty work is completed effectively.

Education / Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience in construction, design, or project management, with strong preference for industrial, advanced manufacturing, food & beverage processing, cold storage, mission critical, warehouse/distribution, or similar technically complex projects
    .

Knowledge, Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Proven expertise managing resources including budgets, schedules, labor, materials, and subcontractors in fast-paced, multi-demand environments.
  • Strong knowledge of estimating, industrial and manufacturing construction methods, engineering principles, equipment, and construction technology.
  • Excellent understanding of safety procedures and a track record of maintaining high-performing, safe project sites.
  • Exceptional organizational, supervisory, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel based on project needs (often nationwide).
