POSITION:

Safety Coordinator

DWS ENERGY Founded in 2014, DWS Energy is a rapidly expanding, multi-disciplinary electrical construction company focused on commercial and utility-scale solar and battery storage (new construction and operations & maintenance), building controls wiring, and electrical pre-fabrication solutions in our UL-508A certified panel shop. The organization has expanded its service offerings throughout its tenure and continues to grow at an accelerated rate.

OVERVIEW:

The Safety Coordinator – Electrical The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This role supports field electricians, controls technicians, project managers, panel shop personnel, and office staff by providing training, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and ensuring safe work practices are consistently followed across all job sites and facilities.

The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in reducing workplace injuries, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting the company's commitment to operational excellence within the electrical controls, automation, instrumentation, and industrial service industries.

DUTIES:
Safety Program Administration
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and applicable industry safety standards.
  • Maintain company safety manuals, programs, and required documentation.
  • Track and manage safety certifications, training records, and employee qualifications.
  • Coordinate pre-job safety planning and hazard assessments.
Field Safety Support
  • Conduct regular job site inspections, audits, and safety observations.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support project teams in developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
  • Verify proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety practices.
  • Assist supervisors with implementing site-specific safety requirements.
Training and Employee Development
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations.
  • Facilitate ongoing safety training programs and toolbox talks.
  • Educate employees on electrical hazards, arc flash awareness, fall protection, confined space entry, and other relevant safety topics.
  • Responsible for Lift, Scaffolding, and Ladder training pertaining to job duties.
  • Promote employee engagement through safety committees and recognition programs.
Incident Management
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents.
  • Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor corrective action completion and effectiveness.
  • Assist with workers' compensation documentation and reporting.
Compliance and Recordkeeping
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs and required regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate and support regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Ensure all required safety records are accurate and current.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with company safety standards.
Equipment and Facility Safety
  • Inspect safety equipment including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, AEDs, and PPE supplies.
  • Coordinate safety equipment testing and calibration where applicable.
  • Maintain emergency response, site safety, and evacuation plans.
  • Assist with facility safety inspections and corrective action plans.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of safety experience in electrical construction, industrial services, controls, automation, manufacturing, or related industry preferred.
  • Experience working around energized electrical systems and industrial facilities strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of field construction and industrial maintenance activities.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA Outreach Trainer (preferred)
  • Certified Safety Coordinator (CSC), CHST, ASP, or similar certification desirable
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
  • Lift Certification (Scissor, Boom, Aerial, etc. preferred)
Requirements:
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and company locations.
  • Ability to walk job sites, industrial facilities, and construction environments.
