Job Description

It’s rare to see a job opening on The Dallas Morning News’ food team, one of the most talented reporting teams in the country dedicated to food coverage for a single region. The News is seeking a talented digital producer who is as obsessed with food as they are about being first in a dynamic, competitive news environment.

The News’ Food Digital Producer is responsible for developing and implementing an innovative, intelligent video and social media strategy that supports, enhances and grows the reach of the team’s stories, especially on video-first platforms such as Instagram, Tik Tok and You Tube Shorts, as well as elevating the team’s digital storytelling.

An ideal candidate is a collaborator, a communicator and a problem solver, able to work well as a member of a team and adjust in a fast-paced environment. • Collaborate with The Dallas Morning News’ Audience and Visuals teams to set visual tone and develop video content strategy, including concepting repeatable franchises, in a fast-moving and experimental news environment
  • Maintain a pipeline of creative ideas that can quickly be turned into short-form video to maintain production goals
  • Interact with our social followers and use this feedback to inform additional videos and evolve our video content strategy

  • Proficiency in writing news stories, with an emphasis on speed, accuracy and a command of grammar and AP style
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as a co-collaborator with fellow team members, maintaining open communication
  • Excellent news judgment and understanding of media ethics, coupled with understanding of the cultural zeitgeist
  • Experience in, and understanding of, Dallas-Fort Worth and the great North Texas region
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a bonus, though not required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and registered vehicle to travel to assignments
