Job Description SummaryWe are the makers of possible. BD seeks a product specialist to attain goals within the designated territory and budget, and to provide in‑service education on the use of our products to surgeons, OR staff, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Providing on‑site technical support across a large region during procedures to ensure accurate use of the products.
- Strategic planning in focused accounts to develop business in new spaces and tracking incremental gains/ROI.
- Developing and cultivating strong relationships with surgeons to drive and provide ongoing support of new business.
- Training and educating plastic surgeons and hospital staff on the use of the products.
- Ensuring surgeons and staff have the most current product information available.
- Ensuring effective utilization of the products by all trained surgeons within territory.
- Maintaining detailed knowledge and capabilities of the company’s products, channels, and methods of distribution.
- Advising customers of new and current products, backorders, general order status, current pricing structure, company policy changes, and forecasts for new needs.
- Achieving prompt, mutually satisfactory solutions to customers’ complaints.
- Keeping promises and appointments, exercising courtesy and ethical manners at all times.
- Attending customers’ meetings and trade shows, giving detailed post‑convention reports.
- Performing special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years medical sales experience, including 2 years with plastic surgeons.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with surgeons.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, communication, organizational, and planning skills.
- Detailed understanding of the needs/analysis approach to consulting.
- Understanding of the product buyer concept, contract administration, and group purchasing principles.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license with at least 3 years of consecutive driving history and meeting BD’s auto safety standards.
- Ability to meet customer/medical facility access requirements, including regular drug screenings.
- Travel at least 60%, including overnight travel.
- Procedure knowledge to illustrate the benefits of the company’s products.
- Basic anatomy knowledge.
- Ability to discuss products in relation to the human body.
- Familiarity with medical and surgical terminology.
