Department SummaryThe Counseling Program at UNT Dallas prepares a multi‑culturally competent counselor and a change agent who promotes wellness in children, adults, families, schools, and communities locally and worldwide. The Program offers two CACREP‑accredited master's programs: school counseling and mental health counseling. Mentored by dedicated faculty with extensive experience as licensed practitioners and in research, our students undergo an authentic experiential and evidence‑based training.
Graduates of the UNTD Counseling program are dedicated leaders and advocates for diversity in the communities they serve.
UNT Dallas is seeking qualified individuals to establish a robust pool of talented adjunct instructors for our growing counseling programs. Selected candidates will be responsible for teaching master's‑level counseling courses across multiple formats including face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online instruction using Canvas learning management system. The ideal candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching excellence and dedication to student success.
Beginning Spring 2026 semester, teaching opportunities will be available in Group Counseling, Family Counseling, Substance Abuse Treatment, Professional School Counseling, Practicum in School Counseling, and Career Counseling. Candidates will be drawn from this talent pool as positions become available. As our programs continue to expand, additional teaching opportunities may arise across our counseling curriculum.
Minimum QualificationsThe successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education or a closely related field from a CACREP‑accredited university and maintain active status as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a minimum of two years of experience, or hold equivalent licensure in a counseling field.

- Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff, and faculty
- Experience in working with industry‑standard tools and programming languages for analytics
- Strong instructional design and course development skills
- Effective use of learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
- Ability to facilitate engaging online, hybrid, and face‑to‑face instruction
