Position Summary

Grid Source is seeking an experienced and motivated Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to join our team. The HSE Coordinator will be responsible for the design, implementation, communication, and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs for the company. This role partners closely with management to ensure compliance, build a strong safety culture, and balance total safety with production efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NESC, and other applicable regulations.
  • Promote a proactive culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations (H2S, PEC, and general HSE awareness courses).
  • Coordinate pre-employment, post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion, and return-to-duty drug testing programs.
  • Perform regular site visits and audits (weekly field and quarterly shop); identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Oversee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with company and client requirements.
  • Facilitate and document weekly safety meetings and participate in crew Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / tailgate meetings.
  • Maintain employee training records and ensure all certifications and safety requirements are current.
  • Track and report regional safety metrics, including monthly man-hours and Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR).
  • Review and analyze near-miss reports and JSAs to identify trends and recommend preventive measures.
  • Attend customer safety meetings and coordinate with operations teams to ensure compliance and training alignment.
  • Audit subcontractors to verify adherence to Grid Source and client HSE requirements.
  • Respond promptly to major safety incidents and assist in investigations.
  • Maintain risk assessments for assigned locations or regions.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in HSE or a related field.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of relevant HSE experience, preferably within utility, construction, or energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present safety information effectively.
  • Advanced mathematical and analytical skills; ability to apply ratios, percentages, and proportions to practical safety scenarios.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with construction operations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Preferred Certifications and Knowledge
  • PEC Certified Trainer and/or other qualified HSE training credentials
  • Certified Train-the-Trainer for bucket truck operations
  • DOT/Hazmat Regulations
  • Shoring and Trench Safety
  • Electrical Safety
  • Traffic Control Awareness
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Frequent travel to field and jobsite locations required.
  • May involve exposure to outdoor elements and operational environments requiring PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.).
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and arms, and communicate clearly.
