Solar Field Technician
Key role at QE Solar providing support to solar, battery storage (BESS), and other renewable energy systems.
Base Pay$25.00/hr - $35.00/hr
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair system failures at solar sites; identify and correct potential issues; support field teams with real‑time solutions.
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment failures across solar, BESS and other project equipment.
- Ensure a safe, event‑free work environment by strictly adhering to company and client safety protocols, lock‑out/tag‑out compliance, JHA completion, LDL testing, and all safety policies.
- Prepare service tickets and reports for site visits, emergency repairs, equipment modifications, and improvement investigations.
- Communicate with technical leads, project leads/managers, and third‑party subcontractors to ensure timely resolution of activities; support recommended performance improvements and address safety and compliance concerns.
- High School or Technical School Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Veterans or military‑experienced candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- 0‑2+ years of specialist, technical experience with solar projects, BESS, or other renewable systems; experience with data acquisition systems.
- Experience working with 600 V‑1500 V systems.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and current NFPA‑70E requirements.
- Proficient with technology and computing programs/platforms; C&I/Utility Scale solar work experience; operations of solar sites and/or project maintenance and compliance.
- Manufacturer’s certifications (e.g., Sun Grow, Power Electronics, Solectria, BYD).
- Thermography Level 1 certification.
- IT/networking skills: familiarity with RS485, Modbus, TCP/IP.
- NABCEP PV Installer Certification.
- Minimum OSHA 10/30 Certification.
- Completion of NFPA 70E courses.
- CPR/First Aid.
- Lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly.
- Move safely over uneven terrain.
- Sit or drive for prolonged periods.
- Climb ladders while carrying 50 pounds.
- Work in extreme weather.
