A privately funded, acquisition-focused oil and gas company based in Texas is seeking a highly capable Senior Reservoir Engineer to support its technical evaluations, reserves reporting, and ongoing asset management. This role is best suited for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working in a small team environment and contributing directly to high-value acquisition and portfolio decisions.
The company’s strategy centers on acquiring non-operated working interests and mineral assets, primarily in the Permian Basin, with potential to expand into other major basins across the Lower 48.
Responsibilities:
- Perform technical evaluations for acquisition and divestiture opportunities using tools like Combo Curve and Spotfire
- Maintain and update internal reserves databases and production forecasts
- Analyze LOE, price differentials, capital expenditures, and other key inputs for accurate asset modeling
- Prepare full-cycle reserve reports for internal use, investor updates, and third-party audits
- Collaborate closely with land and finance teams to assess asset value drivers and regional economics
- Conduct offset well analysis and regional studies to support screening and strategy
- Regularly interface with operators to ensure timely and accurate data sharing
- Incorporate historical performance lookbacks into forecast calibration
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related technical/quantitative field
- Minimum 8 years of industry experience, with a focus on reserves analysis, production forecasting, and economic evaluation
- Proficient with Combo Curve (or similar platforms such as ARIES or PHDWin), Spotfire, and data from Enverus, IHS, or public regulatory databases
- Comfortable managing multiple workflows and shifting priorities in a small, collaborative team
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Delaware Basin experience and familiarity with non-operated portfolios are preferred
- Programming experience (e.g., Python, VBA) and GIS knowledge are a plus
