Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Traffic/ITS Engineer will: serve as a project manager or task leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, Traffic and ITS design projects, project development, and community planning activities; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules for Traffic and ITS engineering projects; prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) documents including ITS infrastructure, fiber optic communications, power systems, signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination for various state and local agencies;
develop traffic studies and master plans, including Traffic Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) Plans, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Master Plans, and ITS Communication Plans, and conduct traffic incident management/safety analyses, traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, access management studies, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling; write reports and technical memorandums; coordinate with subconsultants to keep projects on schedule and within budget;
work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; implement project quality plans; and support and advise junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
- A Master's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in traffic engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Required experience must include experience in:
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects, traffic safety analysis, data analysis using MS Excel and Python, Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro, VISSIM, Trans
CAD, Open Roads, Micro Station, and ArcGIS. - Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates. Professional Engineer licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
