This OpportunityWSP is searching for a Full‑Time Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineering to work in our Houston, TX office. The role is designed for a dynamic, experienced FPE who will lead the development and execution of fire protection and life safety strategies, foster a culture of technical excellence, drive innovation, and uphold our high standard of care—particularly in building and fire code consulting.

- Technical Excellence
- Develop state‑of‑the‑art fire protection and life safety systems.
- Provide expert guidance to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement in design methodologies and technology to enhance quality of solutions.
- Maintain knowledge of building and fire codes, fire alarm and sprinkler design, and the industry standard of care.
- Building Code Consulting
- Offer consulting to clients and project teams for compliance with local, state and national codes.
- Stay current with evolving codes and contribute to company‑wide compliance strategies.
- Handle complex projects across high‑rise buildings, campuses, mixed‑use developments, healthcare and governmental facilities.
- Project Excellence
- Collaborate with project managers and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality fire protection and life safety solutions for diverse portfolios.
- Review and approve project designs, calculations and documentation for accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Maintain deep understanding of industry best practices, codes and emerging trends.
- Ensure practice consistently meets and exceeds the established standard of care.
- Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- 3 – 5 years of proven experience in the fire protection and life safety industry.
- Deep knowledge of building and fire codes, standards and regulations (IBC, NFPA, UFC, OBO, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with clients, teams and regulatory authorities; ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Flexibility to work a variety of schedules, prioritize responsibilities and adapt to change in a fast‑paced environment.
- Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.
- Knowledge of REVIT and/or AutoCAD.
- Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.

CompensationExpected salary (all locations): $85,200 – $117,000. WSP reserves the right to offer higher or lower compensation based on education, experience, skills, internal equity and geographic location.
