Overview

Join a leading HVAC manufacturer driving efficiency and innovation.

Are you an experienced engineer who thrives on analyzing products, finding efficiencies, and making systems perform better at a lower cost?

Our client — a well-established HVAC manufacturer with over six decades of success — is seeking a VAVE Engineer to drive cost optimization, product performance, and continuous improvement initiatives across their growing product lines.

This role is hands‑on and deeply analytical — focused on understanding HVAC systems as a whole
, from refrigeration cycles to component sourcing, and applying smart engineering to make products more efficient, reliable, and cost‑effective.

Why This Role Matters

As a VAVE Engineer, you’ll play a key role in strengthening product competitiveness through detailed system teardowns, cost breakdowns, and performance benchmarking. You’ll investigate how products are built, how they perform, and where efficiencies can be gained — always balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys research‑driven, long‑term projects (3–6 months) and thrives on identifying innovative ways to improve both design and production.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct product teardowns and analyze HVAC systems to identify cost‑reduction and design‑improvement opportunities.
  • Perform detailed cost breakdowns (materials, labor, overhead, logistics) and propose actionable improvements.
  • Evaluate overall system efficiency and performance — focusing on improving product functionality and cost.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Service (DFS) principles to existing designs and proposed modifications.
  • Identify alternate parts or components when supply constraints occur, ensuring alignment with specifications.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, sourcing, and production teams to validate design and cost improvements.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking to compare system performance and cost structure with industry peers.
  • Present findings and cost‑reduction proposals to engineering and leadership teams.
  • Track and manage cost‑reduction projects through completion.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in engineering, ideally within HVAC, refrigeration, or climate‑control systems
    .
  • Strong understanding of the refrigeration cycle
, thermodynamics, and system‑level product design.
  • Hands‑on, analytical problem‑solver who enjoys disassembling and evaluating real products.
  • Experienced in cost analysis
    , teardown evaluations
    , and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Proficient in CAD software (Inventor, Solid Works, or Creo) and familiar with BOM management, ECNs, and supplier qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
    .
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies are a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present technical findings clearly.
  • Onsite position based in Dallas, TX.
  • Hands‑on product teardown and analysis required.
  • Occasional supplier visits or lab testing may be needed.
Why Join

With more than six decades of success, this HVAC manufacturer combines innovation, reliability, and a people‑first culture. You’ll join a stable, long‑standing team where your impact is immediate — and your expertise directly supports production success.

If you’re ready to make a tangible difference every day by improving products, processes, and performance, we’d love to meet you.
