Due to continued growth, TRC Field Services (FSV) is seeking additional Commissioning Engineers of varied experience levels to support our Client Teams.

Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, perform and document all commissioning activities (pre-commissioning, through construction, testing - commissioning, energization - project close out) of various utility substation protection, control and power circuits in accordance with TRC's and Client's requirements, budgets, schedules
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents in advance of projects and outages
- Perform trouble-shooting and problem analysis associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment, including but not limited to:
Application Errors and Omissions, Drawing Errors and Omissions, Wiring Errors and Omissions, Settings Errors and Omissions, Equipment Malfunctions, Questionable Apparatus Test Results, Battery Ground Faults - Participate in project meetings including kickoff meetings, planning meetings, progress meetings, lessons learned meetings
- Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports and documentation that includes project progress, issues or problems, recommendations, test results and analyses
- Assist in developing project specific testing and commissioning plans, energization plans, or any other assigned project specific documentation
- Identify risks and associated mitigation techniques on utility systems and equipment. Develop a Site Risk Assessment to document all high risk construction and commissioning activities and to formalize the processes of circuit isolation and restoration in a manner that ensures no unintended operations of station equipment and protection systems and personnel safety
- Make certain all applicable tests and/or commissioning activities are performed on every piece of equipment or system in accordance with planning and project documents. Ensure test results are acceptable and permanently recorded, filed and distributed properly
- Develop detailed test reports of various types of electrical equipment. Review and approve detailed test reports of various types of electrical equipment
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Power Systems preferred) from an accredited school or University and related experience with testing and commissioning services
- Electric Utility experience is preferred but training is available for Engineers with experience in commissioning complex commercial-industrial equipment including protective relays or other Power Systems Field Engineers with relay knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand construction and manufacturer-s drawings and specifications as well as schematic diagrams
- Strong knowledge of (or the ability to learn) electrical protection systems, including relay communication;
Basic understanding of (or the ability to learn) AC and DC schematics, wiring and drawings, one line and three line interconnection diagrams - Prior professional experience in (or the ability to learn quickly) medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.
