Sr Applications Engineer – Axcelis Technologies
Applications engineers assist customers in setting up processes on Axcelis ion implantation and rapid thermal processing equipment. They provide high‑level technical support with process engineering and equipment characterization.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform technical support for all segments of the organization
- Provide reactive and proactive technical support for customers, including machine and process troubleshooting
- Work individually or with peers on scientific or engineering projects
- Perform scientific or mathematical analysis and calculations
- Design, conduct, and direct complex laboratory experiments or field tests to ascertain previously unknown information
- Interpret and communicate results
- Prepare detailed scientific reports and comprehensive proposals
- Contribute ideas that improve our product or processes
- Understand and interpret business and technology trends
- Publish technical papers, application notes, manuals and present seminars to train others
- Perform other related duties or similar nature and complexity as directed
- Evaluate and interpret technical papers, standards, specifications, and emerging technology trends
- Review and study professional literature and continually maintain and improve current technical skills
- Discuss and write about technical issues
- Provide guidance and information resources to train and develop others
- Present technical results and product information at conferences to support marketing and sales objectives
- Ability to: Interface, negotiate, and coach customers on technical problems in both proactive and reactive mode; apply scientific methods to difficult problems; analyze data logically; design experiments and statistical process control techniques; research information; prepare technical reports; develop corrective plans; recommend changes in design standards and policies; troubleshoot customers; demonstrate integrity and trust; exhibit creativity; organize work and learn on the fly.
- Knowledge of: Multiple aspects of semiconductor equipment subsystems; basic implanter or RTP physics; beam optics; dosimetry systems; vacuum technology; temperature measurement systems; semiconductor fabrication and device physics; clean‑room protocols and wafer processing; implant chemical analysis; implant and wafer metrology; basic business, accounting, and financial practices; basic management techniques; supervising others.
- Skilled at: Using PC; guiding others through technical issues; personal communications; delivering formal training and presentations; interpreting engineering standards and forms; applying knowledge to solve difficult problems; written communication; time management; technical learning; problem solving; priority setting.
