Electrical Engineer

Overview

CDM Smith is looking for an Electrical Engineer 1 to join our team in 2026. You'll be working with a dynamic team of industry leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects.

• Under direct supervision, create basic designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems.
• Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, including lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations of basic complexity to meet client project requirements.
• Assist with the selection and specification of electrical components including motor control centers, switch gear, transformers, etc.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary.
• Contribute to firm s TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc., and submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Perform other duties as required and may create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

• Bachelor s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline. 0 years. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and project demands.

• Basic knowledge of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
